TIPS & TRICKS for your NOKIA SYMBIAN S60 3rd

How to: Change Fonts in S60 3rd

You want to customize your S60 device? Yes? Okay, let´s customize! Today I´ll show you how to change the fonts of your gadget.
Let´s start…
Works on all S60 3rd devices except those with built-in memory like N95 8GB or N81 8GB!
  1. You need: A Nokia S60 3rd device, something to write, a cardreader or USB-cable and of course your computer.
  2. At first download a explorer like Y-Browser or similar and install it on your device. Then start your explorer and go to Z:/resource/Fonts
  3. Now you need something to write. Write down exactly the names of all the fonts in this folder (nohindisnr60, S60ZDIGI, …)
  4. Choose the font that you want on your device. It should be a *.ttf file. You can download fonts e.g. here. You can also take a file from your computer, if you use windows they´re all in C:\WINDOWS\Fonts
  5. Make a new folder called “Fonts”, and copy the font you´ve chosen in this folder. Paste it as many times as you need it and rename it exactly like the names you´ve written down before (nohindisnr60, …)
  6. Take out your memorycard or connect your device to the computer and choose data transfer.
  7. Go to your memory card (E:\) and create a new folder called resource if it isn´t there yet.
  8. Now copy the folder “Fonts” you´ve made before and paste it into the resource folder on your memory card.
  9. Switch off your phone and put in your memorycard. Now turn on your phone again.
Congratulations, you changed the font on your device!
To reset the font, just turn off your phone, take out the memorycard and delete the folder “Fonts” on it. Put it in again and restart the phone.
!!!VERY IMPORTANT: Do NOT change the fonts on your phonememory (C:\), only on your memorycard (E:\)!!!

How To: Update Original Nokia N73 Firmware to Music Edition

If you already own the Nokia N73, you can update the firmware to the Music Edition by using the Nokia Software Update with a little trick. Retailers are just receiving the Nokia N73 Music Edition as this how-to is published, but you do not have to buy the new Nokia N73 Music Edition to take advantage of the new features. Read on to find out how to update the firmware.

Before you decide to update your Nokia N73 to the Music Edition, know that this may void your warranty and you run the risk of breaking your phone, like Darla. Is it worth taking the risk? Find out first what to expect in the new Nokia N73 Music Edition
Download and install: Nemesis Service Suite and the latest Nokia Software Update.

Connect your phone and wait for Windows to install the drivers.
Open Nemesis Service Suite and click “Scan for new device” on the right-upper part of the window
Click on the icon “Phone info”
Click on “Scan”
Change the product code to 0539343 and mark the case “Enable”.
Press “Write”, and your phone’s product code will be changed (you might think that nothing happened, because the phone is still in normal mode, and the changing of the product code only takes a couple of seconds, but don’t worry, the product code changed !).
Close Nemesis Service Suite and run the Nokia Software Update.
Make sure not to touch the cable or the phone while your phone is updating or else you will break it!
That’s it! When you restart your phone, it should now be the Nokia N73 Music Edition!

How to hack nokia symbian s60 3rd

READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULY. I WONT & CANT BE HELD LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED TO YOUR HANDSET AS A RESULT OF YOUR OWN NEGLIGANCE.
These hacking instruction will work on both S60v3.0 OS9.1 and S60v3.1 OS9.2 phones only. These instructions were tested on N73, N95-8G, N82 and worked perfectly. A list of phones by OS type is supplied at the bottom of these Instructions. Please check it if you are not sure wat OS your phone is.
Now lets start. Note that you have 3 files and 2 folders in 'HackS60v3.zip' (Installserver OS9.1 & OS9.2, Hellocarbide.sisx, RomPatcher.sisx and Instructions.txt). Those are the only files you are going to need for hacking your phone and if any or all of those files are missing please dont hesitate to inform me. No PC needed.
NOTE THAT YOU ALSO NEED X-PLORE APPLICATION TO SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE HACKING YOUR PHONE. Unfortunately I didnt include it in the Zip folder in order to keep the zip folder size small and it'll be rather useless for those who already have it. If you dont have it then dont panic, just search it on Nokia Mosh or on Google(type "xplore s60v3"). Remember that you hav to activate hidden and system folder on your X-Plore so that they can be visible. To do so open/run X-Plore, press MENU, select TOOLS, CONFIGURATIONS and select both SHOW HIDDEN FILES and SHOW SYSTEM FOLDERS/FILES. Make sure the boxes next to them have RED ticks in them.

Ok now lets start:

  1. Install X-plore (if you already have X-plore installed then proceed to step 2.)
  2. Install ROMPatcher.sisx (extract it first then install). If you cant install ROMPatcher then install Hellocarbide as they both basicaly do the same thing, but ROMPatcher is beta.
  3. Now open X-plore and try to access C:SYS (note that nothing happens. Thats because the folder is locked and we need to unlock it) DO NOT CLOSE/EXIT X-PLORE.
  4. Open ROMPatcher from your applications folder in menu. When it opens press Options, select 'Disable Caps'. (If you have installed Hellocarbide instead then open it from your applications folder in menu and select Options then Menu1. Dont worry if the application closes afterward, jus continue to the next step)
  5. Go back to X-plore and try to access C:SYS again. This time it should open and you'll be able to view its subfolders.
  6. Now using X-plore copy/extrack Installserver.exe to C:\SYS\BIN. DO NOT COPY THE FOLDER, ONLY COPY THE FILE. (note that depending on which OS platform your phone is using, you should only copy/extract the installserver assigned to your phone and not both files. For example if your phone is an N73, it uses the OS9.1 platform meaning your should only copy installserver.exe from the InstallserverOS9.1 folder. And if your phone is on OS9.2 platform, like N82, you should only copy installserver.exe from the installserverOS9.2. There's a list of phones under their OS at the bottom of this instructional manual.)
  7. Now close all open applications and restart your phone(switch phone "off" then "on")
  8. If you haven't installed ROMPatcher, now wud b a perfect time to install it. If it has installed properly then you can remove Hellocarbide.

(NOW YOU CAN INSTALL "UNSIGNED" and "CERTIFICATE ERROR" APPLICATIONS)

If for some reason u cant install unsigned applications or u experience a "corrupt application" error then u must hav copied a wrong Installserver.exe to C:\SYS\BIN. In this case open ROMPatcher from applications, select Options-Disable Caps, if you have Hellocarbide select Options-Menu1, after that open X-plore, go to C:\SYS\BIN and remove installserver.exe then replace it with a correct one for your phone.

List of phones by OS: (If your phone is not listed here then PLEASE find out first which platform is your phone before proceedin with this proceedure. You are more than welcome to ask me. Send me a message on Mosh.)
